VDSG Data Science Café Vol. VII and Tech Pills: Open Knowledge Maps

Dear community,

Summer is coming, FIFA World Cup already started, but we still love and enjoy applying Data Science together. So we want to use the pause day between the group stage and Round 16 to meet for the last time before the summer break. Maybe we could try to predict the WW Cup winner :)

This time, we are going to visit an innovative company: Casinos Austria & Österreichischen Lotterien on their Innovation Hub at Rennweg 44. They share the same Cafe’s inspiration: Connect, Cowork, Cocreate.

For this Cafe edition we have some special guests from Open Knowledge Maps. (https://openknowledgemaps.org/) If you want, you could participate in the Scavenger hunt “competition” at the beginning of the Cafe to familiarize yourself with this innovative platform to search in scientific knowledge. This will surely very useful when you want to research new topics on Data Science.

After the Scavenger hunt, we will have time to discuss the different projects and ideas including the Data Science and UX behind Open Knowledge Maps with Chris, Peter and Maxi.

This time Michael from Casinos Austria will be available to talk about their innovative projects, Zanni is bringing the innovative idea: “Micro-skills development platform”. Mari will introduce a new project connecting Data Science and Cooking. Bernhard is going deeper in the analysis of the Austrian Data Science vacancies (http://www.datainsight.at/dsjobs/) and there is a team starting a discussion around Probabilistic Programming approaches to AI. Nice bunch of options!

Everyone is welcome to come and share their own ideas with the community or simply explore for a while and decide if there is a project you want to be involved in. You can participate regardless of your experience in Data Science, just bring some enthusiasm, your computer and the willingness to talk to like-minded people around you.

PLEASE BE AWARE: If you are planning to attend confirm your attendance in MeetUp until Wednesday 27th June. If you are not on the list, you cannot enter the facilities.
