Abstract

The retail industry is extremely dynamic and demanding. Data is everywhere, but making sense of that data for an effective business decision process is not that simple. Maria Ines Plaza Schwarck will present the use of forecasting in the retail Mexican Market. The demand of data follows a demand of data scientists, but how to get the first job and rock interviews? Juan Baran will drive in the selection process showing the tricks to succeed.

Mari is an experienced professional with over 20+ years in the business process management and innovation field. A former Microsoft employee, she has gained experience in small, medium and big companies.

n this talk, Maria will provide the practical experience of advanced analytics in retail through the example of Pabis Forecast. Pabis Forecast uses Deep Learning applied to time series to forecast into the level of granularity SKU-Store. T he whole solution is hosted in AWS and it is optimized on the usage of resources making it scalable and competitive.

Speaker 2: Jan Baran, Managing Consultant

Jan has more than 15 years of working with data under his belt. He has worked for the biggest American and European corporates. He worked as a data scientist even before it was called data science and observed how Data Science was rising in popularity and slowly becoming a commodity that everyone could use from the cloud. Right now he is working as a data architect and manager for one of the biggest European consulting companies focusing on data business.

In this talk, Jan How will present to increase the chances to get a job in Data Science; how to structure the CV and avoid the biggest mistakes during the interview. He will also overview how companies train AI to hire people. Please bring questions, ask and dare to ask. Juan is happy to answer and help.
